a good draw

A very good day yesterday: Sue, Jenny, Shannon and I wandered into the second bracket of the regional knockouts and in the first round faced Becky Rogers and a partner playing with Judy Pede and Careen Hinds. I played poorly in the first half, Sue was kind enough not to mention it and Shannon and Jenny played a perfect set, so we beat them and drew DeFalco: Charlie Weed, Patricia Cayne, Gabriella Olivieri, Dano DeFalco, Jacqui Mitchell and Amalya Kearse.  One big happy family …

I’ll tell you: It gets old, being a good draw.  A large part of what motivates me to work hard to learn to play is how sick I am of being the team everyone’s happy they drew.  I chose to play Charlie and Gabriella instead of Dano and Patricia last night; Sue and I played great and we were up 30ish at the half; sat down against Jacqui and Amalya in the second half and gave a few back but managed to hang on for the win.

Yesterday was a confidence builder.  No idea who we get today, it doesn’t really matter.  For the first time probably ever, I’m not feeling like such a good draw.
