Attended two weddings this weekend, as different as could be. The first, celebrated in finest Presbyterian style by a kilt-wearing officiant closed with a curious phrase — the Minister presented the new couple, whose marriage had be “blessed by God and protected by the State of Illinois.”
The second, outdoors at The Grove at Silk Purse Ranch half an hour from Las Vegas, was warm and charming. We mistook the officiant for a bouncer until he stood before us and calmed a nervous bride by asking her “Are you sure?” when she’d said “I do.” After dinner, a dozen girls under eight, bookended by handsome little boys, skipped and danced with the bride and groom on a night that was clear and hot.
Flying home this morning to catch the diving competition (way to go, Diver of the Week!) and then tomorrow, it’s back to work watching the action from Pau and getting ready for Las Vegas.
