breaking up is hard to do

Very early this morning I was waking up to some team game or another on BBO and I ran into a guy (presumably), Murad, whose profile had a note saying something like “Rosenberg should take a sabbatical and write his memoirs.” Which Rosenberg, I wonder?

In the middle of Euro 2008, so it’s possible Murad’s profile made reference to the dust-up between two Swedish soccer players. Or, maybe it’s Merrill Lynch North American Economist David Rosenberg he’d like to see taking some time off after predicting the continued tightening of the American economy. Probably not, though.

More likely he means Michael Rosenberg, my husband’s former teammate (who indeed wrote a terrific memoir, Bridge, Zia and Me). I hadn’t thought about it before, but now that I’ve spent a moment on it I think I agree with the sprirt of Murad’s remark: it’d be fascinating to read about the decade that’s passed since Michael’s book came out. Really. Who doesn’t want to hear first-hand about the breakup of one of the most celebrated partnerships in modern bridge?

A completely unrelated subject: can’t believe I let this get away from me! Thank goodness, eh?

“If I had it to do over,” to the n-th degree. Oh, my.
