Had my favorite kind of set last night in the first half of the first knockout: twelve hands with nothing to do. They were easy to bid, play and (mostly) defend.  We were up seven after the first half, lost by three.  We’re somewhere near the bottom of the top bracket; I sat there in the middle of a really big field.
At the table behind me David Berkowitz and Larry Cohen played Cezare Balicki and Adam Zmudzinski. George and Claude played Carolyn Lynch’s team, Lou Ann O’Rourke and Marc Jacobus were at the next table, Jim Mahaffey kibitzed David and Larry.Â
I watched Pietro kibitzing his wife, Migry Zur-Campanile playing a few tables away, saw Bobby Levin and Geoff Hampson walking by and later Steve Weinstein; Eric Rodwell across the room, Joyce Hampton on the phone, Glenn Eisenstein playing a hand, Pepsi kissing a pretty girl. Martha Katz and Dick Benson, Laurie Kranyak, Peggy Sutherlin with a lot on her mind.Â
