getting ready
One of my three favorite sisters-in-law is a highly successful CPA who’s smack in the middle of her heavy season. How she still has time to check out the blog is beyond me. Anyway, I was thinking about how similar my bridge calendar is — I’m in season, too. My life is all bridge all the time right now; practicing spelling words, tackling a mountain of laundry and vacation planning are all keeping it interesting.
I spent a couple of days in New York this week working with Sue in advance of our date to play the Women’s Trials at the end of May. Had a great time, furthered my understanding of a couple of key treatments, made plans for a practice in Chicago. It was great to finally see Honors, which really is all that.
Yesterday I managed to fit a baseball game in between rounds. Played a dozen hands on BBO with Shannon, took a break and bid 97 hands with Judi, played 24 more with Shannon, went with George to watch the White Sox lose to the Tigers, then came back and played two boards with George against Roy Welland and Bobby Levin. Oy Vey.
We have the coolest double header tomorrow: Front and center for the Tigers/White Sox finale, then courtside at the United Center when the Bulls play Orlando. Then Monday, up at o-dark-hundred for Gatlinburg where I’ll finally get to play a lineup I’ve been excited about for months: me and Judi, Shannon and Jenny, Kevin and Justin.
