It is always very sad when a pet of any kind dies. I am guessing a bit hard to understand for a child since I don't understand it either and have been trying for quite a long time. While I am sure your hampster was a great pet, I highly recommend a rat among the rodent family. They are generally the friendliest and smartest. Also they tend to live a long time. My condolences.
