the hamster died
Richie the hamster was found dead in his cage shortly after 3:00 this afternoon. An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his untimely death is currently pending. George, who lost in the semi-finals of the GNT contest this afternoon, is on his way home to coordinate the making of arrangements. A private, grave-side service is planned for Monday after school.
The Life of Richie

Richie was the first hamster I picked out. He was from Scott’s Pet shop and was an amazing companion. He could scarf down water but his eating habits were strange. Richie died on March 3, 2008. We went to race him and we started with his brother, Oliver. I tapped the cage and it appeared he was sleeping. Little did we know that he had passed on. We think he died the day before but we can’t be sure. He was a great hamster. Lizzie, Kendall, Emily and I loved him. Well we’re a couple of the only people who knew him. I regret playing favorites with Oliver but the truth is I loved them equally. It breaks my heart to see him dead but when it’s their time to go we must let them go. Richie was … well, too many things to explain: great, caring, outgoing and an all-around amazing hamster!!!

My condolences. It is always very sad when a pet of any kind dies. I am guessing a bit hard to understand for a child since I don’t understand it either and have been trying for quite a long time.
While I am sure your hampster was a great pet, I highly recommend a rat among the rodent family. They are generally the friendliest and smartest. Also they tend to live a long time.

Jacobses – I am sorry you lost Richie. Don’t ask how I have reacted when I have lost my pets. Not pretty.
Although I am not sure about Heaven for Humans – I am sure our beloved pets go somewhere special when they can no longer be with us.
Sorry that Dad’s GNT game died, too

That’s hilarious, I was going to make the same recommendation that Bob did. Rats make AMAZING pets.
