good eats

I’ve been meaning to blog about my favorite aspect of going to bridge tournaments — all the great restaurants we end up finding. Presented below are some favorites, in the order they occurred to me.  Do you have favorites? Tell me in the comments…

Sen Thai Bistro, St. Louis. Ate there four times during the second week of the tournament. Looking forward to going back when we’re in St. Louis this summer for some Cubs games.

Din Tai Fung, Shanghai. I loved this place so much I planned an outrageous road trip around a stop at the North American outpost. Seriously.

Marche, Boston (Toronto and Montreal). George and I went to Boston a day early last summer just to go to dinner at Marche. It had closed, we were disappointed. Looking for a reason to return to Toronto or Montreal, you’ll find us at the Marche when we do.

Nobu, Dallas. The Crescent Court Hotel is gorgeous, we had several extraordinary meals there during the nationals.

Tayst, Nashville. It’s probably obvious by now that I’m a big fan of small plates.  Many of them, obviously. Another place we visited many times during the tournament — had nothing but fun at Tayst.

The Slanted Door, San Francisco. Judi and Michael took George and me to dinner during the last tournament.  The waiter asked if George and Mike were brothers.  That alone was worth putting them on the list.  Loved the takeaway in the basement of the shopping mall a block from the tournament hotel, too.  Try the chicken soup.

Off to the hospital for a little procedure for which I had to prep and fast.  Now I’m good and hungry.
