so far so good
Tuesdays are tough days on the tournamet trail; we started at 9 am against O’Rourke (Lou Ann playing with Marc Jacobus who wheels Geoff Hampson, Mike Passell and Eddie Wold) and Fireman (Phyllis and Paul playing with Mildred, Michael Seamon with Alan Sontag).
We made the semi-finals when Fireman lost both matches in the three way. We played Esta Van Zandt and won by one to face Lou Ann again in the final.
Judi and I started against Lou Ann and Marc, the cards were mostly theirs and Lou Ann played most of the hands. In twelve boards, Lou Ann declared six, Jacobus played two and I played the rest. Poor partner got almost no action; we had the same gadget come up twice yesterday (1 :S: - 2 :S: showing hearts and clubs) but otherwise Judi was mostly shut out. We were down 15 at the half when Mike and Eddie bid a couple of games we didn’t. The girls put up a great fight in the second half but gave back a little more so we finished second in an event that had a bunch of great teams entered. I’m thrilled. Thirty-some masterpoints. Yay.
A new KO starts today, looking forward to it. Storms and snow everywhere, I’m getting homesick. A few more days then it’ll be home to kiss George goodbye as he heads for Taiwan to play in the prestigious Yeh Brothers tournament. By the time he gets back, pitchers and catchers will have reported. That means spring in my book.
