congratulations shannon!

Shannon made Grand Life Master last week, how cool is that? 10,000 is a lot of masterpoints, and I can promise that at least 1,000 of those were won the hard way (across the table from me).

I’m really excited about bridge — I played pretty well in Williamsburg (particularly considering the awful few practices in the days right before I left!) and lots of great system things came up. I’ll spend this week updating the notes, then it’s on to the Houston regional where we’ll be trying out our women’s team — Betty Ann and Peggy, Shannon and Jenny, Judi and me.

The girls had a fantastic Gazilli auction yesterday on BBO, check it out: Jenny held:

:S: AKT92
:H: KJ97
:D: A
:C: AJ7

She opened 1 :S: and Shannon bid 1NT. Jenny started the fun with 2 :C: (either 11-15 with 5 spades and 4 clubs or any hand 16+). Shannon showed the positive (8+) with 2 :D: and Jenny bid 2 :H: with the strong hand and 3 or more hearts. Shannon chose 3 :H: (setting trump) and Jenny started cuebidding. 3 :S: from Jenny got 4 :C: from Shannon, 4 :D: by Jenny got 4 :H: from Shannon; 4 :S: (keycard for hearts) by Jenny, Shannon showed one and Jenny bid 6 :H: . Shannon held:

:S: 74
:H: AT954
:D: J875
:C: K4

The only +1460 on the board was good for 13.13 BBO imps.
