my favorite hand
Had the pleasure of playing with Sue Picus last week; my favorite hand of the San Francisco NABC came up in a KO match we played together. I held:
:S: AQ
:H: xxx
:D: xx
:C: AQJT9x
Sue opened 1 :D: and I bid 2 :C: . My left hand opponent came in with 2 :H: and partner bid 3 :H: . I chose 3 :S: and partner bid 4 :C: . What’s your call?

Not sure what Bo you are speaking to but I will reply anyway. Looking at the hands 7C is a claimer but very very tough to bid.
I think the auction is very good up to 4C and you will certainly get to 6. I would play 4C there as RKC for clubs and so 4N would show 2 plus the queen.
Then not sure what to do. 5D would ask for kings but Sue knows that will not help and you will never bid a grand so she needs to make some other try. Maybe 5H over 4N.
Very subtle BUT you might figure out the following:
(A) this is grand slam try.
(B) she did not ask about K of spades or K of diamonds so she must be looking at them. So you know there are no losers in clubs, spades or diamonds. But is there a heart loser? For example partner could have one fewer spades and one more heart. Would they try for 7 with Ax of hearts AND with no Queen of diamonds. Probably not so maybe you can bid 7C over 5H. But once again, very very tough.

Funny thing about that 4 :C: call. Sue said she hoped I’d think it was keycard. I told her it occurred to me that it might have been keycard after I chose 5 :C: (nothing else to cuebid).
I like our auction up to and including 4 :C: , wish I’d answered aces.
Over my 5 :C: , Sue bid 6. They led a heart, I pulled trump and claimed. We won a boatload when the opponents reached 6 :D: after a bidding misunderstanding.
