quick weekend
in Washington, DC — bought a sightseeing trip at a charity auction last winter and to the surprise of absolutely all of us, here we are! Squeezed in a tour of the White House (saw POTUS board Marine I while we were there, how cool is THAT!), were escorted by Congressman Roskam’s staff on a tour of the Capitol, dinner at the venerable old Hay Adams Hotel, saw the FDR and World War II memorials by night. Those last two, FDR and WWII — stunning.
Today we’ll be sitting ducks for a spell, then it’s into Georgetown for lunch and some shopping before we head home.
Upon our return it’ll be all bridge, all the time. Trials start a week from yesterday.
