Loading ...finally!
I was in Gatlinburg, TN last week. Everybody said I’d hate it there, and for the most part they were right. The place I stayed had sketchy long-distance phone service, internet access was out of the question. I even took my computer and went looking for a place to go online … no go. Frustrating. Then I figured out how Gatlinburg is supposed to work: you rent a great house in the mountains and share with a bunch of friends. Aha. And the houses have wireless high-speed (as they should). Next year that’s what we’ll do.
It was a great week. We won a little over 100 masterpoints for the week (which is fun but didn’t make the top 10 masterpoint winners, perhaps not the top 20, actually) — finished 2nd and 3rd in two different knockout matches, won a 1 session Swiss and managed to win the Sunday Swiss as well. Played pretty well on occasion, made some new friends, saw a part of the country I’d not seen before. Smoky Mountains, gorgeous.
